Welcome to S.O.A.P. We are a shop dedicated to reducing the impact of harmful waste created by our need to stay clean.
Most humans prefer some sort of soap to clean their dishes, clothes and kids.
We at S.O.A.P. feel you should have a choice when it comes to your need to reduce the impact of our shopping habits.
Do you recycle and buy new bottle each month, or do you REFILL Reduce and then Recycle that gallon laundry jug? You also have the right to read the ingredients and buy SAFE soap. Safe soap is made without petroleum, does not contain harsh chemicals or preservatives and is biodegradable. It will not destroy streams, rivers and wild places, will not harm your children and is safe for grey water systems.
No Parabens, Phalates, or Phosphates.
We honor the Safe Cosmetics Pact and carry local and regional products that are shipped minimally to us in small freight. (Fair Trade and Direct Trade)
Local Artisan soaps and powders. Gourmet and Organic Salts, Massage Oils, Lip Balms, Face and Body sprays, and hand dyed wash cloths, S.O.A.P. is the perfect place to use Apothecary to create a handmade gift for any occasion.
We carry beautiful gift baskets that are hand woven in Ghana...Thanks to Asylum down... that always include a Fair Trade Organic and Gluten Free fudge bar made locally here in Nevada City by Earth’s Sweet Pleasures.
We love to refill glass jars, or plastic bottles with our eco-soaps we carry in bulk. We will fill up any container of your choice, but they must be CLEAN and Dry. We provide a grapefruit seed extract rinse if you desire and all fill ups are at your own risk. Meaning we are not responsible for loss of quality due to un-sanitized containers. All eco friendly soap is made without harsh preservatives and need to be used within 6 months to a year. This is true of most handmade soaps and lotions that are pure.
We love Organics!
We are a bit disappointed that the soap we distribute still comes in one gallon and 55 gallon PLASTIC drums, but....we reuse the containers for rainwater collection, and our customers gladly reuse our gallon leftovers weekly! This helps makes our store a close to zero waste shop.
We urge individuals to rinse out anything they feel can be reused a few more times and refill it with an item we carry at S.O.A.P. Otherwise you would be forced to purchase a single use throw away container.
